Tree Planting Plans

Why do you need a Tree Planting Plan?

Tree planting is an integral part of urban forestry. Tree planting is often required to mitigate tree loss during development or to meet a required canopy density following project completion.

Role of Consulting Arborist

The consulting arborist works with landscape architects to select trees that fulfill the client’s goals in terms of size, ability to tolerate the local environment and aesthetics. Climate change is a threat to our urban forest, and we recommend species that are resilient to the ever increasing heat and drought we have begun to experience in the Pacific Northwest.

Limited belowground space is a common issue in urban areas, preventing new trees from flourishing. The consulting arborist recommends trees species that tolerate these conditions and soil mixes to help improve them. We provide tree planting plans and soil volume reports that municipal codes may require for private development.

Public development projects are responsible for a large number tree plantings in the right of way and parks. We work with them to select tree species and install specialized infrastructure such permeable pavement and suspended sidewalks that improve roots’ ability to expand through the soil.
